Affiliate marketing on YouTube can be difficult to wrap your head around if you’re a beginner or even if you’ve been making videos for while because when you first start making videos you don’t think about affiliate marketing. There is a lot to explore on the subject, however, once you learn the basics it is possible to make money as an affiliate on YouTube.
But this courage and will to adapt and grasp the nettle usually pay off. And no one else but the brave gets exactly what they want. This short story touches on a frequent reason why people turn to an affiliate business at some point in their marketing career.
When you click “like” on a product or page, Facebook can then use that information and your name and profile picture, to display targeted social ads on your friends’ pages. Using personal information from your profile to target an audience raises privacy issues. Third-party advertisers can also use Facebook to promote their products by posting auto-generated advertisements, but they cannot access personal profile information. To opt out of being included in Facebook social advertisements, log on to your Facebook account, and click on Accounts at the upper right-hand corner of your home page. Select “Account settings” and then “Facebook ads.” Select the “no one” option under “Ads shown by third-party applications.” Scroll further down and click “no one” to opt out of social ads completely. To safeguard your privacy, be careful of third-party applications that you enable when you browse Facebook, as they may not be trustworthy.
These days, most people use social sites like Facebook on their cell phones and other Internet-enabled mobile devices. As mentioned above, 84% of its advertising income comes from mobile advertising and it has plenty of data about the performance of various marketing videos on its site, so it’s also the best place to turn to when you need advice about the kinds of videos that are likely to get watched and reacted to.
Promote affiliate programs through article marketing. Write articles on a given product and find free places online to post them, such as review sites and article directories. Be sure to check if you are allowed to include an affiliate code link to the product you’re promoting. Some sites only allow you to link out to a non-commercial website.

Merchants favor affiliate marketing because in most cases it uses a “pay for performance” model, meaning that the merchant does not incur a marketing expense unless results are accrued (excluding any initial setup cost).[22]
Excellent numbers! Keep up the good work 🙂 I have a quick question for you, what’s your take on Prosociate? Associate Goliath? etc. I installed Prosociate on one of my sites and imported a ton of products from Amazon. Next, I noticed I’m getting a ton of clicks, but zero conversions. Any thoughts?
One of the things I’ve done over the past two years is track the methods I use to make money with Amazon by tracking IDs as well as keeping track of other things I’ve done while building up my Amazon websites. I initially published my findings in two blog posts early last year when I first launched this blog and even today they are still among the most popular posts (here and here). Now it’s been over a year and today I’m providing an updated list of information including several new tips that I’ve learned since that time.
By following the FTC guidelines and sharing valuable content with your audience, you’ll be able to gain trust and credibility. And when you develop a reputation of being a reliable source of relevant information, your audience will naturally value your opinion and take notice when you recommend products to them.
Thank you Amy for this great information. I’ve been doing just the banners on my side bar, but now I think maybe doing the links would work better. I’m going to experiment. I’m only doing products that I’ve tried and can 100% approve of. I think bloggers who don’t stick to their morals are slimy.
All this comes from a blogger who knew NOTHING at all about marketing or affiliate marketing before starting. My “success” is due to the fact that I always put my reader, not my own profits, first. And my readers know it very well.
It was about a week before I’d have to flee the country due to the crackdown, and I already had to leave my apartment due to gunfire and grenades going off constantly for 48 hours. (Seriously, true story).
Be sure to check what kind of customer support you can expect from your affiliate program once you have signed up. Do your research online and if possible, speak to other sellers using the program to get their thoughts. Can you speak to someone via phone or Skype or do you have to wait 72 hours for email responses? Be clear on this because trust me, you will need support at one point or another.
At the time, I had a ton of people reaching out wanting to hire me (I ranked my self #1 in Google for WordPress SEO Consultant, WordPress SEO Expert, many other good keywords). Unfortunately I struggled with basic things you need to run a service-based business… keeping track of clients, time management, and making sure I was charging clients for my time (and getting them to create content which often seemed impossible).
