Wouldn’t it be nice to never have an awkward sales meeting again? Imagine a sales meeting starting with, “I’ve heard great things about you, how do I start?” as opposed to, “so I got this coupon and figured I’d give it a shot”.
In a matter of 5 minutes, I’d made $500. I’d never made money like this via my website before. But it was that moment that I truly understood the power of building an audience and monetizing it through affiliate marketing.
When most people are scrolling through Facebook, they aren’t typically looking to buy. Delivering the message in a unique way that doesn’t necessarily look like a typical ad draws people in and makes them more likely to keep watching. Your ad should tell a story, and user engagement and getting your story across should be prioritized over explicitly selling the product. Consider formatting the video in a way that incorporates insightful information, funny content, or news.
Step one: Consistent branding – make sure that your profile image, channel cover, layout, affiliated channels and your actual videos all promote your company. If you want to market as the product brand that you are selling, you will need to setup different brand channels.
But Wyzowl also found that even among those who had used Snapchat for video marketing, only 27% thought it was an effective channel, raising questions about the platform’s ability to deliver return on investment.
While other companies have attempted to gather this type of data before, we like Wordstream’s data because it’s broken down by industry. As you can see from the graph below, there are significant differences in CPC for different industries.
Before you begin a video campaign it is essential to identify and understand your goal. Without one, you may as well be just posting a video on Facebook. Establishing a goal is step one, step two is understanding what metrics to track in order to achieve the desired end goal. Here are the common goals of video campaigns with guidelines for measurement.
The advertisement doesn’t just directly target Star Wars attractions at Walt Disney World, though it might attract that audience. It also appeals to anybody with an interest in food or in the movie Star Wars. By using this tactic, the company can expand their reach but still appeal to people with an interest in their marketing message.
Your affiliate link can be in the form of a download URL, an introduction URL or only the home of the product vendor. However, do not forget to attach your affiliate ID such that in case a customer purchases the product, you will be paid your commission.
Despite its early success, Facebook faces challenges on its road to video dominance. For one, YouTube, which has been the only video platform with scale for a decade until Facebook came around, will not give up easily. The platform has been fighting to keep its prized creators on YouTube, offering bonuses for anyone signing an exclusive contract. And YouTube is not the only player competing for premium video content. The overflowing bucket of TV ad dollars is too great a prize for any web platform to pass up. As I wrote earlier this month:
Most blogs won’t allow the author to include their own affiliate links (but it’s worth checking). The next best thing is to link to the definitive content on your own blog, either naturally within the body of your post or in your author’s bio.

Robert Parker, 25, from Leeds joined MoreNiche in 2004 after failing to find work as a fitness instructor. He began by placing ads on his blog and now makes £40,000 for a 20-hour week promoting health and beauty products across his 15 websites. “The first six months is hard – I didn’t know what I was doing and was making about £200 a month,” he says. “But you have to regard it as a business and, in a year, once you’ve put in the time marketing your website, mastering search engine rankings and adapting your content, you can give up the day job.”

In this example, a blogger might put this link on their blog to try to get their readers to click through to your “blue widget” page and hopefully buy something. If the visitor who clicks on this link actually buys something, affiliate tracking software will automatically (usually – depends on what system you are using) pay your affiliate a percentage of the sale.
Understand your demographics. Every affiliate will have their own target As the affiliate marketer, it’s your job to understand your affiliates’ demographics, and tailor your advertisements or reviews in such a way that that target demographic will be reached through your platform. Knowing, for example, the target demographic’s age, interests, and average income range, will help you tailor your reviews and advertisements to that demographic.[43]
Thank you for sharing these great tips. I have made money from Amazon from revenue share sites like Hubpages. I am not looking to branch out and start to build my own sites to really increase my earning potential. I am sure that these tips are going to come in very handy.
Building an audience for your site will, in some ways, follow naturally once you start producing excellent content. An interested audience will not only bring you consistent traffic, but also result in consistent sales for you.

Very informative. I left a comment because I know what it is like to spend hours or even days writing a great blog to not even have someone leave a simple comment one way or the other. I started making only something like $3.00 a month with Amazon affiliate when I first started, what a joke! I was about to quit when I read your article and like one other and found out there was real money to be made. Now I am making a million dollars a year…just kidding, I couldn’t even type that sentence with a straight face. Seriously though I have boosted my earnings to a high of around $96 to an average of like $45 a month with still isn’t much, but much better than my adsense earnings. Well good day and thanks for the insights.

  1. Another way find this information is to do a simple Google search. For example, one could place the following phrase into Google Search:  “(product name) + affiliate program”. (Replace “product name” with the name of the product you are promoting.)
