Great stuff here Sean – thanks for all of these insights and sharing some best practices when it comes to affiliate marketing. I’ve never been comfortable giving it a shot, but after reading this post and your perspective on how and when to do it, I may just have to give it a try. Especially considering I’m already mentioning and recommending services and products on my site, I’m just not getting the potential rewards associated with doing so. Thanks again.
Pay-per-click (PPC) marketing models like Google AdSense may appeal to some marketers. PPC models pay considerably less than other marketing models, but the advantage is that they require less active work of the marketer. The marketer’s pay is determined by how much web traffic is directed to the target site.[14]
CoSchedule recently launched our new social video functionality. It’s now possible to schedule social media video posts for Facebook within our app. (You can also schedule videos on Twitter too, but that’s another topic for another time.)

While multivariate tests do exist, they are complicated and come at a higher price. The value of single factor A/B tests is understanding exactly what variable you can credit for your results prior to moving forward.
Despite being the smallest age group on the platform, Facebook seems to be the best option for reaching older users on social media when compared to other networks. Here’s a breakdown of social media usage of 65+ year olds on other networks:
Very few marketers ever hope to create a Facebook video ad that performs really well on the first try. In fact, you will probably do better in the long run if you expect to test different ad strategies before you find the one (or ones) that work best for you. Try creating videos of different lengths, use different wording in the ad text and captions, and target a variety of audiences.
At the end of the video ad, make sure you craft a call to action so that your audience will know what they should do next. For instance, you may want them to visit your website, call you on the mobile phone they already have in their hand, or simply like the Facebook page for your small business.
The graphic of your sales at the top was incredibly interesting. Your average sale had revenue of over $130, even after taking account of your point #9 (sell some inexpensive items). That’s impressive.
Hi Chris I was wondering about how much time per day do you spend working your sites? I have a full time job now but am looking to supplement my income on the side for a while until I can do it full time.
Choose products and services. Once you’ve chosen a niche in which to work, you’re ready to start finding products and services to promote on your platform. The products/services you choose to promote, as well as how much work you’ll have to put in, will vary depending on your chosen niche.[11]
Affiliate Links – adding affiliate links in your content (text/images/buttons) is the only strategy I use and is the most popular. People who actually read your stuff are the ones likely to buy something you recommend – they’re probably not going to click on a distracting banner ad.
The amount you can make will vary wildly – it honestly falls somewhere between zero and millions. Your income will be directly related to the type of offers you promote, how much traffic you get to the site, and your grasp of other online marketing skills like email marketing and SEO.
I also think one issue is how I have the navbar set up. The navbar IS in the top fold (not a sidebar), but I had my mom visit it who is not too techy and a little older and it took her a few seconds to find the actual articles lol.
There’s something important to remember if you are an affiliate marketer. Just because you are promoting other people’s products doesn’t mean you can skimp on the marketing. You must take the promotion just as seriously as you would any other.
I would like to add that for information products, a lot of the time it’s pretty easy to rank for “information product review”. I recently did a review of a popular ebook that is a month long discipline program. I went about it by doing the actual program and documenting everything. At the end of the month I wrote up a 2700 word article summing up the whole experience.
So here, your friend doesn’t need to purchase your product first. The same things happend while you are selling online using affiliate marketing technique. You get some percentage of the amount as a commission only if the products sold out by clicking on your affiliate link by any process, whether by Facebook, blogging, sharing whatever….
MY biggest struggle is knowing how to put the promotion together and having everything in place when you promote it. I would kill for a Step-by-Step hold your hand and let me show you once how to do it correctly Mapped Blueprint. I have seen lots of sales pages but when you get them from the vendor they look a lot of the times nothing like the Org sales page, have never written a sales page before and it becomes overwhelming and confusing and then totally frustrating
That is also one of the reasons that at the Front-end of my Sales Funnel you can find an interesting product that’s about using (viral) video’s for for example getting more visitors to your Blog. Btw. on my own Blog you can also find a ‘Making Off’ with an attempt of mine to make a ‘Promo Video’ (actually a ‘Photo Slide Show Video’ made from a bunch of Vacation Photo’s, and you can get an idea how you can easily make them yourself.)
Consumers are bombarded with videos every time they scroll through Facebook, so they make quick decisions on whether or not something is worth watching. If your ad doesn’t draw them in within the first few seconds, they will move on. Grab their attention right away with something that piques their interest and makes them curious enough to keep watching.[1]
In February 2000, Amazon announced that it had been granted a patent[14] on components of an affiliate program. The patent application was submitted in June 1997, which predates most affiliate programs, but not PC Flowers & Gifts.com (October 1994), AutoWeb.com (October 1995), Kbkids.com/BrainPlay.com (January 1996), EPage (April 1996), and several others.[9]
We can target ads to people based on how they engaged and when they engaged and create an experience that is relevant to where they are in the process of investigating our products. Facebook’s self-serve ad interface is better than any other ad platform on the market—you don’t have to be a tech wiz to get in there and get things rolling!
“Affiliate marketing takes no greater effort than freelance blogging,” she says, “but the big difference is that you don’t know how much you’ll earn from an affiliate campaign until the sales figures come in.”
I started blogging since 2016, and still struggling to get huge amount of traffic. I usually monetize my content with affiliate links as well as with AdSense. But no income still ! I don’t know where I am lacking, can you please check out my site, n suggest me what to do next?
Even though becoming an affiliate marketer can seem like a lot of work, you can make your life a bit easier by organizing your work a bit. By following these steps, you will be able get your own affiliate marketing off the ground in no time.
You can also create high-quality videos about your product and then add your affiliate link to your video. Ensure that the link you add to your video is relevant to the product that you are advertising. However, if you want to increase your income by using youtube affiliate marketing, do not just make one video and sit and relax, make as many videos as you can to increase your chances of increasing your earning.
Today, businesses of all sizes and industries are cashing in on the Facebook trend — successfully marketing their products and services, building brand awareness, and connecting one-on-one with customers, all using Facebook.
In reality he does not own a service or a product nor is he responsible for advertising it he is supposed to attract users of the web to get their attention on the link and make them click on it. For doing such a thing merchant offered percentage base commission of a fixed amount of money to advertiser in particular.
I would give this a hand of applause on this informative article. My only concern is I think I’d rather take number 4 and 5 next to #2 and #3 next to 5. After building a site you are to post something on it right? So by then you have to start posting valuable post already, if not how will be merchants grants you as an affiliate if they don’t see any post? Then you got that valuable information posted, it will gives you a long term good impression and when the merchant see this, good affiliate and better once would ask you to be their affiliate. It is just my thought though, what can you say about it Justin?
When you tap a video on Facebook or Instagram, it will now automatically play with sound. It was a controversial choice, and one that has many users scrolling their feeds with their phones or computers on mute.

  1. As the popularity of a YouTube channel increases, inevitably does the interest from advertisers. This can lead to backlash from viewers who become upset when their favourite YouTuber appears to have ‘sold-out’ by agreeing to sponsored partnerships with advertisers that may differ from their usual style of content that is perceived to be less authentic and relatable.
Thanks for sharing info on affiliate marketing. Learned a lot. I have been an affiliate for some programs but never made success with the same mainly because I haven’t done it right. Also, traffic on your site needs to be really good and targeted to make things work. Need to work on traffic first and then can think about affiliate marketing.
I’ve never found a way to rationalize using affiliate marketing for my site without being concerned with compromising my message, but at the same time, you’re right that it does confer lots of benefits. What are your thoughts on this?
Basically, you’re just recommending certain products through your YouTube videos and when people click on your affiliate links and purchase products from the merchant, you get a commission from each of the sales you generate. There are many affiliate programs in which you can participate – for instance, Amazon and Apple Store have affiliate programs that allows you to earn commission by promoting their products.
To each his own I suppose, but what you’re suggesting is like trying to compare apples to oranges. Would I rather build up a website that pretty much runs automatically with little effort on my end and make more than my day job or build a “real business” with paying customers and all the hassles that come along with dealing with them?
