Facebook isn’t the only social media site that allows affiliate links. You could also use Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram to make money as an affiliate marketer. But remember, since you don’t technically own your social media accounts, you need to follow the rules each site has regarding affiliate links. And, as general rule, you shouldn’t only be posting, pinning, or tweeting affiliate links alone. Instead, focus on the quality of content first and only include affiliate links when they add value to the information you’re sharing.
Imagining a person you’re talking to. Many people make videos and simply “talk to the camera.” Instead, picture that the camera is someone you know. Maybe it’s your mom or dad, a good friend, or a co-worker. Talk to that person as if they’re there, and you will come off as more personable in your video.
In this example, a blogger might put this link on their blog to try to get their readers to click through to your “blue widget” page and hopefully buy something. If the visitor who clicks on this link actually buys something, affiliate tracking software will automatically (usually – depends on what system you are using) pay your affiliate a percentage of the sale.
I have another post, How to Set Up a Blog, that brings people step by step through the process using Bluehost. That’s another product I know and use. Readers can go through that post with no website at all and by the end have a bare bones WordPress site up and running.
So what I’ll do is put together an article of all the top products that are on sale in my niche using the tips I’ve shared earlier like linking as many times as possible, making the product image clickable and then sending out an email to my list etc. to get even more conversions.
This is necessary because of the competitive nature of affiliate marketing and to be able to make money online. Daily, new techniques and methods are developed; you wouldn’t want to be left behind while new trends take over.
Once again, you’ll find that companies with affiliate programs make it very easy for you to obtain the images and links you need to get your visitors back to their sites. It’s almost always just as easy as copying and pasting code into your sidebar.
Drive traffic to your affiliate program. Once you’ve built a popular platform and secured affiliates to work with, you’ll need to drive traffic to your affiliate program. There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but one of the easiest and most successful methods involves writing a blog post or web article and using your email newsletter to invite your subscribers to join the affiliate program of your choosing.[18] Other methods include:

As part of its latest News Feed algorithm changes, Facebook is taking concerted steps to ensure that videos on the platform, “encourage meaningful social interaction.” The company has updated its video recommendations and as a result, the total time users spent on Facebook dropped by 5%, or roughly 50 million hours a day, during Q4 2017.
In fact, if you’re being asked for a credit card number just to become an affiliate, you might be getting scammed. Most reputable companies that offer affiliate programs allow people to become affiliates free of charge.
Anyway, before you terminate your contract and become a full-time affiliate-come-backpacker, launch it as a side project and put in some non-passive work. Supplement your income and see if and how the affiliate marketing business works for you.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but again, it’s all going to be unique to you and your blog. But if you’re stumped and truly aren’t sure where to start, take a look at the bigger blogs in your niche. How are they utilizing advertising? What types of ads do they use? Where are they placed on the page?
The Bag of Dicks Affiliate may continue to prosper, or complacency may bite him in the arse, but he’ll always be a bag of dicks as long as he judges others for how happy they should be with their income.
With over 100 million hours of video being watched on Facebook every day, people are consuming video in various mediums across many devices, but most are moving away from snackable, short form content for a longer, more gourmet video experience. Long form videos are now representing 55% of viewing time on smartphones, and Facebook is now allowing advertisers the opportunity to take advantage of the attention of these leaned back, tuned-in video viewers with In-Stream video ad placements. These Facebook video ads are very similar to mid-roll ads on YouTube or Twitch. You may have already noticed these in-stream videos yourself as Facebook has been testing them on content that is 90 seconds or longer for the last few months.
Update: I used to recommend carousel style Amazon ads, but they don’t exist anymore. When I used them they converted about 3 times better than static style Amazon banner ads. I suggest using Native Shopping Ads instead which is essentially a replacement to the carousel style ads but allows for greater flexibility. You can display products by recommendation from the content, by search or with other options. Here is what the a Native Shopping Ad looks like for the keyword search “Chris Guthrie” Amazon displays the Kindle books I’ve written:
Wow! This is surely one of the best guides for making money with Amazon Associates I’ve ever seen. Truly useful points and much to learn! I’m also using an Amazon aStore and I agree with you, it’s worthless. Thanks for sharing these tips, I will try these techniques and I hope I can get a bigger check next time 🙂
Now we have Google’s upcoming requirement that your website be mobile-friendly. That has caused a scrambling to comply for a lot of webmasters. Have you done anything to ensure your sites are compliant to low, mid and upper tier level cell phones?
Despite being the smallest age group on the platform, Facebook seems to be the best option for reaching older users on social media when compared to other networks. Here’s a breakdown of social media usage of 65+ year olds on other networks:
I started blogging since 2016, and still struggling to get huge amount of traffic. I usually monetize my content with affiliate links as well as with AdSense. But no income still ! I don’t know where I am lacking, can you please check out my site, n suggest me what to do next?
The way you endorse a product/service and the social proof behind it (eg. Facebook polls or maybe reviews from other customers) are the main reason I was able to go from 2% to 8%+. If you don’t see these in your affiliate dashboard, use Thirsty Affiliate’s pro version to see them.

  1. If I were to opt for those product review sites to review the products, will I be able to include the Amazon product links in the reviews? Or is there any other ways I can promote any types of products where I don’t have to create the niche site? Please advise.
I never got too much into Amazon cause the money was not so great in my niche. Then I started making some cash with them, but was not sure how to make more. I just could not find the right info that will talk me through it.
