No, it is not. I wouldn’t recommend on setting up a company right away as this would cost additional money out of your pocket, and you should be focusing on bringing cash in instead. As your commission grows, then you can start to set up your company.
This website may contain affiliate links to products we think are awesome. This means that if you make a purchase using an affiliate link here, I might make a small commission from your purchase, but this DOES NOT impact your price at all.
Any money you make from anything online you should report to the IRS. I believe anything over $600 and they send out tax documents to you and to the IRS. Don’t mess around. Report any and all income you make.

When people use their phones at work or any public place, they don’t want to draw attention to themselves by having sound blaring. In fact, 85% of social media video ads are defaulted to play on mute (either because of the settings applied to the ad or because of the user’s settings). It also allows brands to reach out to users who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Focus on what works, eliminate what doesn’t. The analytics provided by your company will tell you which types of ads are working and which ones aren’t. Use more of the ads that are working and eliminate the ones that aren’t.
Yes, the word “marketing” is part of the phrase affiliate marketing, but for the most part, our job as an affiliate is not to sell — that is the job of the sales page our affiliate links lead the reader to.
This is big news for publishers, many of which have trouble making money off videos they share to Facebook. Facebook lets publishers make money from branded content, or videos they create for marketers, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg has always been opposed to pre-roll ads, which are standard in the industry.
Digital Point, aBestWeb, and Warrior Forum are excellent and free resources for affiliate marketers. In addition to advice from more experienced marketers, these forums also offer networking opportunities to connect with other marketers.[23]
After finding your blog, a couple weeks ago, I finally setup a carousel on one of my blogs. After reading your blog, I had a bunch of different ideas on how to use my Amazon affiliate account across a handful of my blogs but as of April 15th, Amazon is closing the affiliate program for all Illinois residents. The Illinois governor signed a tax law that requires Amazon to charge tax on affiliate sales in Illinois even if the retailer doesn’t have a presence here.
[…] someone clicks on the ad on your site and then buys the product featured in the advertisement. Chris Guthrie of Entrepreneur Boost reports he made $90,336.65 from Amazon Associates. Darren Rowse made […]
Obviously, what an affiliate says he earns does not always correlate to what he actually earns, but it says a lot about the competence and/or the bluster of these affiliates in that almost 20% reported over $1 Million per year profit.
Kashif, the best way to gain confidence is just to start doing it. Don’t worry as much about persuading people to buy. Worry first about creating something useful and genuine. The sales will come from there.
I’m a landscape designer in Phoenix, AZ. I have articles that I’ve written about ecological and sustainable landscape design and installation. I’ve been in business successfully for over 8 years. I would like to find a small group of reliable affiliates to place my articles in social media, etc and pay them a good commission as I make a sale, ( to be discussed with the affiliate) It’s a service and not product per se. Or if they have a suggestion on how they would like to work, I’m open
Don’t worry; you won’t pay more than you’re ready to spend. Facebook lets you control your budget – you set your limit and the ad will be promoted to your target audience until that limit is reached. If you don’t think this campaign is producing the expected results, you can put it on pause and change something to make the video more captivating. If you notice it’s extremely successful, you can update your budget once it’s spent.
Great read! Question: When you talk about creating a custom audience of viewers of a specific video, does that only work for video views from your website via pixel tracking or is there a way to retarget people who viewed your first video/ ad on facebook?
Affiliate networks are nice for advertisers because the advertisers don’t have to run the affiliate program themselves. Affiliate networks are nice for publishers because it’s like one-stop shopping and they don’t have to hunt for individual programs. Of course, affiliate networks are nice for the affiliate networks because they are acting as middlemen and getting a piece of the profit pie.
Remember: the viewer can easily neglect your ad if it isn’t impressive right from the start. You need to grab their attention from the very first second. You can use a funny or inspiring quote or scene, or anything else that would work well for your target audience. The viewer should experience some kind of emotion: fear, excitement, pleasure, curiosity, or anything else that will keep them watching the video.
Pay Per Sale or PPS – where companies pay a percentage of all sales that are qualified. These could be a percentage which was agreed by the company and it’s affiliate. Among the most common PPS program is the Amazon Associates where a publisher earn up to 15% depending on the products that were sold. Here’s a list of places where you can find products to promote.
If you’re not getting the reach or engagement you’d like, consider increasing your posting frequency a bit. The same SME report found that 39% of marketers planned to increase their Facebook posting frequency over the next 12 months. Just monitor your analytics to make sure posting more often is helping rather than hurting your brand.
Theme – you don’t need a special theme for affiliate marketing, you probably just need a blog. I recommend StudioPress themes since that’s what Yoast, Matt Cutts (from Google), and I use. Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress also recommends them. One of the biggest mistakes I made was using a theme from Themeforest… since they’re built by independent developers who may stop making updates to their theme. This happened to me and I hear horror stories all the time about people having to switch themes and redesign their entire site. I’ve been using the same StudioPress theme (Outreach Pro) for 3 years. Their themes are lightweight (load fast), SEO-friendly via optimized code, secure, and they have a huge selection of plugins for the Genesis Framework and an awesome community in the Genesis WordPress Facebook Group. They include documentation for setting it up and will serve you for many, many years.
